Customer Support so far has been great, especially in the ordering phase when I made a bit of a blunder and we had to get a few things straightened out before I could get my initial download. Even now when I have a question or two it doesn’t take more than a day to get an answer, they’ve been great.
How To Get Started
Once you’ve paid for your purchase you will receive an email with a web address and instructions. It’s just as simple as logging on and downloading your pdf’s.
I would recommend reading Fat Loss Optimizer first because it does explain how Metabolic Cooking works as opposed to other diets, and it gives you the specifics of the Metabolic Nutri-Profile, which is basically the code breakdown on what is in a dish (proteins, carbs, fats, etc.). This way you will have a better understanding of what you’re looking at the first time the first time you crack open a recipe.
This guide will also dispel some of the myths about protein (should I cut down?). What kind of carbs we should be eating (yes, we need to be eating carbs). And get us over the myth that we need to be totally fat free in our diet in order to shed weight from our bodies.
While I’m at, remember that just because we are eating healthier, thermo-charged, foods, it is no excuse to over-eat. We still need to control our intake through proper portion control.
Ease of Use
You can view your new cookbooks and guides on your PC with Adobe Viewer, or print them out if you so desire, or upload them to your favorite tablet. I used all three of these methods just to get a feel for how the product looks, and how easy it is to find things.
That the product works as advertised, and is easy to read and use on a PC should be a given, and it is. You can click on any of the recipes in the Table of Contents and it will take you straight to that recipe, or you can just browse page by page. The text is easy to read and the recipes are set up so that the ingredients are on the left, the instructions in the middle, and the Nutri-Profile is in the upper right corner by the title so you can tell what the recipe contains (proteins, carbs, fats, etc.). I would like to have a few more pictures to look at, but that is just me, the recipes are easy to follow regardless.
I printed off the Thermo-Charged Seasonings guide to see what all of this would look like if one decided to print out all the books and keep them in binders and I must say it looks pretty darn good. I used some good thick paper and configured my printer to do double-sided printing and it came out quite nice.
My iPad displays the product via Adobe Viewer and is quite nice. There are no skewing problems and the quick links in the Table of Contents work as well.
Overall I would say the ease of using and viewing the product to be quite good.
Can you customize the Metabolic Cooking recipes? It depends on how savvy you are about ingredients, calorie counts, and not altering the Nutri-Profile.
As I said above, I printed the Seasonings guide as a test to see how cookbook products would look on paper. I also followed my first recipe out of that guide as well, the Chicken seasoning. Now I like big, bold flavors and realize that these recipes are written to try and please the greatest possible number of people, but for me, I needed to tweak this recipe a bit. It’s a really nice combo of curry, paprika, cayenne and other ingredients that will make your chicken come alive on the plate, and fill your kitchen up with that nice curry smell when you cook. I just adjusted quantities of ingredients in the recipe for my taste buds, but left all the original spices intact. It’s one of my favorites, I use it all the time.
I also adjusted the Quinoa Stuffed Peppers a bit by adding some wild boar chorizo. I’m no stranger to looking at the calorie, protein, and carb counts etc. in an ingredient and I made sure I didn’t alter the Nutri-Profile so I didn’t feel like I was altering the dish outside of the parameters of metabolic thermo-charging. I just wanted a little more protein, and besides, it tastes great.
Use your own best judgement. Customize a bit if you want, if not, just prepare off the recipe.
Very easy to purchase through Clickbank, and if you don’t want the up-sells immediately, you can always go back later and buy them. The recipes are short and easy to follow, and really, there is something for everyone including vegetarians. Customer support is great, and the emails Karine sends out during the week are good for motivation, or just trying out a recipe that you haven’t eaten yet.
This isn’t just some cookbook that someone posted in the Internet, the authors of Metabolic Cooking are engaged with their customers and seem to genuinely care about their success.
The only con for me at the present time is the fact that the flavors seem to be a little bland to me. However, as I explained further up in the review, I like big bold flavors and realize that the recipes had to be written to appeal to a wide spectrum of users. So, although this is a con it is one I can live with.
